A Look at LCGD Graduate Jo Rzepa’s SGD Student Award Shortlisted Chilterns Garden

In Jo’s words

The brief was to create a garden for all the family, with both entertainment and play being of equal importance and with a focus on introducing nature to the children. The garden includes an outdoor kitchen which leads onto the kitchen garden for ‘pot to plate’ cooking, a woodland walk leading to a wigwam for the children and a large fire pit area surrounded by meadows looking out onto rolling hills of the Chilterns. I like to create gardens that have a cohesive feeling to them, without adding too much clutter, which is a challenge as people want so much from their gardens. I feel this design is highly functional and fits the client brief well but is also pared down and elegant. The garden feels ‘grown up’ and so works for the entertaining side of the brief but there are also large areas that appeal to children.

Our thanks to Jo for supplying the image of the garden.
