LCGD Autumn Info Burst C – New Iconic Gardens

In 2011 we invited speakers to choose their iconic garden of the previous decade that will, in their mind, be the gardens we will still be talking about as landmarks in garden design in 20 years time.

This autumn 2022 we revisit this idea in a series of online ‘Info Burst’ webinars. Each of our six speakers will champion a garden, explore their choice, how the garden inspires them, tell us how they came to make that decision and why they think we’ll still be talking about their choice of garden in 2042.

Join us as leading designers from the UK, Australia, New Zealand and the USA take us on a journey of future new iconic gardens.

We will reveal the chosen gardens in September!

Louisa Bell is a registered member of the SGD and one-time board member of BALI. Her company, The Lovely Garden, offers a comprehensive service including the design and build of larger gardens, swimming pools, summerhouses, interior design and other outbuildings.

Louisa began her design career at Kingston University and Chichester College having left life as a Finance Director. For a while, she sold painted, furnished summerhouses and has always loved outdoor rooms. Every time she moves house – which is often – she builds a new summerhouse or cabin in the garden right away. A passionate garden visitor, she has dragged her children and husband around most of the gardens in England. She loves junk shops, vintage finds and salvage yards. Her own gardens have always included old gates and ‘something rusted.’

Having built over five hundred projects in Sussex, Surrey, London and Jersey, she now concentrates on writing and takes on two large projects each year. She mentors for the SGD and enjoys visiting previous gardens to catch up with clients and see how the planting has progressed. Her greatest passions are books and the renovation of old houses.

Our Info Burst seasons raise money for six horticultural charities in the UK and overseas – more details on our website.

Each Info Burst in this season will be individually scheduled with the UK and USA speakers delivered in the early evening, UK time and with the Australian and New Zealand speakers as breakfast webinars in order to be live in the evening in Australia and New Zealand. We start our UK and USA info bursts promptly at 5pm with a 45-60 minute presentation from our speaker and with some time for questions, finishing at 6.30pm.

Our Australian and New Zealand Info Bursts will be held in the morning to account for the time difference – details to follow but if you miss these live events we will be able to send you a recording.

The event will be hosted by LCGD Director Andrew Fisher Tomlin and LCGD Melbourne Director Brent Reid.

All our Info Bursts are delivered remotely via online webinar and you will be sent an access code before the event. Each event counts as 1.5 hours CPD.
