New bursary scheme launched

We have announced a new bursary for our Planting Design Diploma which will cover the fees for a place on this course in full from 2026.

The LCGD Sam Taylor-Hunt Bursary is a new bursary offered by London College of Garden Design to provide training in planting design to a professional gardener who might not ordinarily be able to afford to come on our unique Planting Design Diploma course. This bursary is offered with the support of the Professional Gardeners’ Guild (PGG) who represent professional gardeners employed in private gardens and estates, promoting contact, sharing information and skills.

The bursary is in memory of, and celebrates Sam Taylor-Hunt, an LCGD Graduate from the Planting Design Diploma and professional gardener who we very sadly lost in 2024. Sam ran a very successful garden business and was interested in new ways of using and experimenting with plants, even appearing on BBC Gardeners World to explain his ideas. He was very supportive of his profession and an inspiration to those who knew and worked with him.

Applications for the bursary for the course starting in January 2026 open 1st June and close 31st July 2025.
