I like to design beautiful thoughtful gardens that take in the context of the site and the local environment. I always aim to use sustainable materials and workto enhance the local biodiversity. I like to work with clients to make their garden dreams come true in a friendly and professional way to make the whole process an enjoyable journey.
My base is in Wokingham, Berkshire but I have clients as far afield as Tewkesbury and enjoy undertaking work in new areas.
Biography:
Claire’s route into horticulture began with hands-on horticulture. After completing her RHS level 2 qualifications she established a gardening business which stated from a solo operation into a team of four, caring for private gardens across Berkshire.
Over six years this practical experience provided an invaluable understanding how gardens evolve over time. Working with a variety of different gardens gave Claire first hand insight into planting, materials, maintenance and the way people interact and use their outside space.
It was through this hands on experience Claire was often asked to re-imagine areas of their gardens, develop new ideas and solve design challenges. It was this creative aspect of the role that inspired her to pursue a long held ambition to work in garden design professionally.
To build on her practical experience Claire undertook the Garden Design Diploma at the London College of Garden Design. Today through Claire Evans Garden Design, she creates thoughtful, bespoke gardens that balance beauty, functionality and a strong sense of connection to their surroundings. Her designs are informed by creative vision and a practical understanding of how gardens are built, used and cared for over time.
Before moving into horticulture , Claire worked din account management within the food industry, experience that continued to inform her collaborative approach to working with clients and delivering projects.

Clients dream is to have a contemporary country garden which combines their joy of entertaining with their love of nature and gardening and key to this is feel immersed in the Wiltshire countryside. Set on a small hill side currently the garden is mainly set to lawn. The design is contoured to make the most of the hillside and its view, close to the house is a generous planting zone – this is a gravel garden loosely representative of a patchwork of Wiltshire countryside with small streams, stone walls and wild flowers. There is also a meadow, swimming ponds, vegetable garden and an orchard as well as open lawn. Paths wind through the garden to allow it to be fully enjoyed.
A small country garden which is mainly set to lawn, with a slightly unusually shaped plot that ends with a small woodland . The clients would like to make the most of the views around them and enhance what they have already and have a project they can put in place over time. Included in this is increasing their drive size whilst also making the most of this sunniest side of the garden.
