I am a garden designer, mother, love of travel and conservation with a passion for creating natural spaces that inspire, soothe and reconnect people with the rhythms of nature. I design gardens that breathe – spaces that welcome you in , slow you down and remind you of your place in the natural world. Guided by nature itself, I focus on sustainable materials, native planting and a gentle flow that lets each garden grow in harmony with its surroundings.
Biography:
I’m Karen Knowlton, founder of The Garden Goddess Garden Design Ltd, based in Bath and working across the South West, Wales, the Cotswolds and beyond. I create gardens that are designed to inspire, relax and reconnect people with the natural world. Having been brought up on the side of a Welsh mountain, a BA(HONS) Fashion Design, run a print mounting business in Cornwall, I have painted on silk and sold my work, run the herb section on a Care in the Community organisation and recently built a shepherd hut. I have obtained a Distinction in The Construction Design Certificate 2024/2025 run by LCGD and obtained an award for the top mark on the course.
My approach is rooted in organic, ethical and environmentally responsible principles. Every garden I design is shaped by a deep respect for nature – spaces that evolve gracefully, support biodiversity and offer a sense of calm and sanctuary.
