Spatial logic first. Atmosphere and the sublime a very close second. Fine detail always.
Hi! I’m Mirren, a landscape designer sitting at the intersection of architecture, user experience, and plant ecology. Having spent a decade practicing as an architect and another running a UX consultancy, my approach to space is grounded in logic, but driven by a love for beauty. I don’t view gardens as mere decoration, nor as rigid engineering projects; I view them as living, atmospheric sanctuaries designed for human emotion and ecological life.
My style blends clean, modern structure with romantic, biodiversity-rich planting. Drawing on my roots in Northern California and my home on the UK South Coast, I am fascinated by microclimates—crafting evocative landscapes that foster rich habitats and thrive through soaking-wet winters and bone-dry summers (without fainting when July hits). Whether I am designing a London courtyard, an Isle of Wight coastal retreat, or a hospitality space anywhere in the world, my goal is simple: create flawless spatial flow, evoke an undeniable sense of magic, and collaborate closely with the makers who bring it to life.
Biography:
My design career has been defined by structure, human behavior, and a very deliberate pivot. Before stepping into the garden, I spent ten years practicing architecture in the US and another ten running a successful UX business in the UK, designing complex digital systems.
Turning 50 brought a jolt of clarity: I had zero interest in spending the next twenty years staring at screens when I could be outdoors creating physical spaces I adored. Combining my architectural grounding with a decade of designing for human experience, I brought my designer’s mind into the soil.
Now splitting my time between London and the Isle of Wight, I bring a rare mix of construction fluency, spatial logic, and a deep obsession with biodiversity and atmospheric planting to my practice. I operate as an effortless peer to architects, luxury developers, and contractors, offering full-service design from initial concepts to site administration—delivered with heavy-duty design rigor, ecological soul, and zero “salesy” small talk.

A Coastal Hotel Retreat — Isle of Wight This project breathes new life into an 1824 estate tucked under Europe’s largest ancient landslide complex. I’ve created a getaway that celebrates the unique local micro-climate, blending elegant, human-focused gardens with the wild energy of the coast.
The 11-acre grounds feature manufactured Pulhamite rock formations inspired by the area’s terrifying, yet awe-inspiring landslides, and are divided into three distinct experiences:
– The Oasis Garden: A fragrant, water-wise sanctuary surrounding the main house. It features drought-resilient plants alongside eco-friendly geopolymer concrete and architectural built-in seating.
– The Superbloom & Cascade: A monumental staircase and ‘stream’ that winds through a hillside of colorful wildflowers inspired by coastal northern California (a climate that the Isle of Wight is now mimicking). The stair and stream end in a swimming pool carved into the landscape with views of the sea.
– The Poet’s Walkway: An accessible timber boardwalk follows the contours of the steep slope through protected woodland, framing outdoor sculpture and culminating in a dramatic 20-meter canopy platform for star-gazing and ocean views.
