Sam’s passion is creating gardens to suit the needs and lifestyle of her clients, never imposing a one-size fits all solution, but finding a style and scheme to fit the complex needs of busy families.
All of Sam’s designs create inviting spaces, imaginative features, and intelligent use of plants and materials to create the desired atmosphere. A garden design from Chiltern Garden Design will deliver the garden that you are dreaming of, with every detail thought through, that you can enjoy for many years to come.
Sam has had a deep love of plants and the natural world since childhood. She has been creating beautiful gardens for herself and others for several years. After leaving a City career in Marketing she chose to hone her skills more fully at LCGD, and achieved a distinction in the Garden Design Diploma. She went on to work with a number of award winning Garden Designers and Landscape Architects over the years, gaining vital experience and knowledge along the way. She has also contributed to the planting of medal winning RHS show gardens at both Hampton Court and Chelsea Flower Shows. Sam is now a fully registered Member of the Society of Garden Designers.

An update to a traditional family garden to create spaces for entertaining including dining and lounging terraces with a sociable fire table focal point, outdoor kitchen and covered deck with bioclimatic pergola. Naturalistic planting brings seasonal interest right up to the house, whilst hard materials complement the recently updated facade of the house, a contemporary feel to the spaces.
The front garden was tranformed from a bleak open space to a welcoming entrance garden, with new driveway gates and contemporary parterre. The rear garden now features a sunken seating area surrounded by seasonal planting, pleached trees and yew hedging for screening and privacy, a small kitchen garden and orchard.
A large sloping garden required significantly updating to incorporate a large entertaining space with retractable pergola, fire table, outdoor kitchen and bar. A raised formal pond with fountain and aquatic plants leads the eye up the sloping lawn, past swathes of naturalistic planting, up to the summerhouse, treehouse and upper garden pergola, draped in wisteria and jasmine.
